CMS

Ideal for large sites and online shops

This is a system that allows you to manage your site.

I can offer two types of CMS;

  • A full CMS
  • A partial CMS

Full CMS
This is designed and built around a database and there are very specific hosting requirements for this type of site. Web space needs to be quite high because the system uses a lot of resources. A simple test can check out your hosting specifications in a couple of seconds.

A full CMS is ideally suited to large sites with lots of files and for online shops.

With the Content Management System on your site you can;

  • Edit all text
  • Delete, insert or change one image for another
  • Add products and have full stock taking facilities
  • Track orders and payments
  • Build a mailing list
  • Add new pages

All of this and lots more is possible without needing to have any knowledge of the code behind the system.

The process for building a CMS is;

  • The functions of the site are defined, these could be a login, a poll form, a shop (these are all components and modules), and I will advise about what is possible.
  • A template is designed
  • The component and module positions are coded and programmed into the system
  • The site is then built around a database with all information being entered into the database

Once it is set up then it is very easy to update and maintain.

Without a CMS you would need to pay your web designer a fee every time you need something added so it is very cost effective.

Partial CMS
Smaller companies and individuals would not need anything as elaborate as a full CMS but might want to update their pages themselves. If this is the case then I can build a small CMS that doesn’t need a database but is just as easy to use.

This is an ideal solution for small sites with a small amount of web space.

A small one-time fee and this will be installed when your site is built, then you can;

  • Edit all text
  • Delete, insert or change one image for another
